There are those who are motivated to pursue an art with the dreams of fame and fortune, and then there are those who pursue it because they feel compelled to, DJ WillPower is definitely the latter. The Los Angeles born dj has been an avid music lover his entire life thanks to the musical influence provided by his parents and older brother, who was responsible for exposing him to the unique sounds of hip hop music. At the young age of twelve, WillPower knew he wanted to pursue the lost art of dj’ing when he first witnessed Omar Epps’ legendary scratch scene in the movie “Juice”. He saw first hand how such turntable wizardry was actually performed.
Willpower would inadvertently get his first experiences as a local dj by providing mix-tapes and cd’s for friends to use at house parties and other social events around the city gaining him a reputation as a talented selector of music. Years later, WillPower took his first step into a promising dj’ing career by signing up for classes at the renowned Scratch DJ Academy in Los Angeles to learn hone his craft from some of Los Angeles’ most famous dj’s. Under the tutelage of DJ Faust, DJ Hideo of 100.3 The Beat, and DJ Matter, WillPower learned how to develop his infamous mixing techniques and has gone on to wow crowds at such LA hot spots like; Central Hollywood, Parc Lounge, Bar Copa, and Remedy Lounge in downtown Los Angeles. One thing is for certain, no matter where or when WillPower spins he is sure to take audiences on a musical journey, and will move any crowd that is put before him.
